TwinSpires.com launches 'Leaderboard' competition

Last updated: 7/3/08 2:26 PM

TwinSpires.com, the official advance deposit wagering service for Churchill

Downs Inc., has launched a new "TwinSpires.com Leaderboard" competition in which

top players can secure spots in the Daily Racing Form/NTRA National Handicapping

Championship X and Coast Casinos Horse Player World Series in Las Vegas early

next year.

Along with earning bragging rights in the TwinSpires.com and handicapping

contest communities, six players who top the "TwinSpires.com Leaderboard" will

earn spots in the field for the National Handicapping Championship and a chance

at its $1 million in prize money January 23-24 in Las Vegas. Six runners-up

in those Leaderboard categories will be awarded entries in the Horse Player

World Series, which will be held in Las Vegas in early February.

The "TwinSpires.com Leaderboard" competition, which was launched Tuesday,

does not require a separate entry fee. It simply asks TwinSpires.com players to

designate their "real money" wagers as Leaderboard wagers.

Participants may choose to compete in either of two Leaderboard categories --

"Points" or "ROI." Players who compete in "Points" will be rewarded for simply

picking winners, while the "ROI" Leaderboard rewards its players for finding

value and amassing a large bankroll of winnings. Within the "Points" and "ROI"

Leaderboards there are three separate contests for win, place and show wagers.

"Our players have told us they love to compete and our new Leaderboard

competition will give them an opportunity to showcase their skills on several

levels," said Jeremy Clemons, vice president of marketing for TwinSpires.com.

"We are excited to deliver this social handicapping contest feature to our

players and look forward to seeing who will rise to the top."

Each month marks the start of a new contest for each of the six Leaderboards,

so players can jump in at any time. The contestant with the highest monthly

score in each Leaderboard is eligible to win the yearly Leaderboard competition,

which reflects the highest individual monthly scores. Along with the spots in

National Handicapping Championship and the Horse Player World Series that go to

the top two finishers in each division, there are prizes for the top five

finishers in each yearly or monthly Leaderboard category.

All monthly Leaderboard winners will receive a satellite entry into

TwinSpires.com's "Biggest Vegas Qualifier Ever," an online competition

scheduled for November 29, while the yearly Leaderboard winners will be off to

Las Vegas for the National Handicapping Championship.

A TwinSpires.com account is required for players in the Leaderboard

competition. New members may open a TwinSpires.com account with an initial $50

deposit either online at www.twinspires.com or via phone toll free at

1-877-SPIRES-1.

The TwinSpires.com Leaderboard contest will be overseen by handicapping

contest veteran and Brisnet.com Director of Marketing Rich Nilsen.
