Saturday’s “Road to the Derby Kickoff Day” at Fair Grounds features eight stakes races, led by the Gun Runner S. for Kentucky Derby (G1) hopefuls and the Untapable S. for Kentucky Oaks (G1) aspirants.

Both graded stakes on Saturday night’s “Downs After Dark” program at Churchill Downs will have Breeders’ Cup implications.

The stakes-packed Friday evening card at Charles Town provided a chance for proven stakes winners to add rich victories to their decorated resumes.

Sloppy conditions at Ellis Park proved just right for a pair of hot favorites with speed on the rail – the 2.40-1 Ryvit in the Maxfield Overnight S. and the 0.81-1 Zozos in the Hanshin S.
